The location of the hotel was fantastic. Excellent value, clean and very comfortable hotel. I couldn't fault it.

A really lovely hotel - beautifully situated in a delightful part of Madrid, close to famous museums (including the Prado), excellent restaurants, and also to the suburban train stop Recoletos, just a stop away from the main train station at Atocha, from which one can quickly reach a variety of lovely and interesting destinations not far from Madrid, such as Aranjuez and Toledo. The best thing about the hotel was its gorgeous garden, where all meals were served: worth staying there for that alone. The room was also lovely: spacious and comfortable.

The staff weren't always that friendly. Most were, and I want especially to compliment and thank the reception staff, who were helpful and friendly without exception. The prices are on the steep side, and the hotel has a policy of changing its prices, according to how full the hotel is at the time of one's booking. I was quoted one, fairly reasonable, price, began the booking process but delayed completing it while I consulted my partner; by the time I returned to the site to complete my booking, the price had risen steeply, as the room was now (allegedly) the last one left available.

I'd booked a non-smoking room which we were given but when we went in it was immediately obvious that someone had recently smoked in the room. I rang reception who sent up the porter to check: he agreed with me and promptly moved us into the room next door. The room was very comfortable and spacious.

Breakfast was advertised to start at 8am but the the staff were not ready at that time: no glasses, spoons, coffee, etc. Then a cleaner appeared with mop and bucket and began washing the floor! Not what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel.

Room was a good size and the little kitchenette was useful for morning coffee. It was walking distance to the major squares and museums.

The restaurant and its layout needs sorting. There is a coffee machine totally in the wrong place as people are queing for it you can't get to the other tables for food. Breakfast was only average and the evening meal was inedible and vastly overpriced. We only ate there on the first night.

The location was excellent - we went for the Madrid marathon & the start & finish were less than 10 minutes away. The room was very large with a sofa which was lovely. The breakfast was excellent.

For a general city break I'd probably choose a hotel nearer Sol as the restaurant options were limited. Shame they didn't provide coffee.tea in the rooms. There was a coffee maker & kitchette but the local supermarket wasn't open Sat pm/Sunday aswe couldn't stock the kitchen.

Reception were very helpful when giving information on local restaurants and also helping us with bus routes etc. Just a really nice hotel in a great location. We got the metro from the airport (only 1 change) and were able to walk to the main shopping area (Gran Via) about 15 mins walk. It wasn't noisy of a night so all in all 10/10.

Staff was excellent, spoke English, very helpful and professional. It was great having a place to get a cup of cafe con leche every morning without having to buy a whole breakfast (right down in the lobby). We had three people in a room with two twin beds and a couch. Couch mattress was not very comfortable, but besides that there was plenty of room..the little kitchenette was awesome. Beautiful lobby. Would definitely recommend as long as you don't want to be right in the middle of all the action. Free internet use in the lobby. Front desk employees were great with directions, making reservations, getting taxis for us.

It was a little too far away from the action, but close to the museums. Didn't realize that Madrid was so spread out....transportation to places of interest added up.

Our room was lovely with a view of the garden/courtyard area. The outdoor dinner service in the courtyard has an upscale atmosphere and polished waiting staff but is pricey. The room was clean and comfortable with a full kitchenette including stovetop, cupboards, dishes and frying pans. It's in the museum, Retiro Park area with few good restaurants and a few high priced shopping boutiques nearby. Retiro Park is within easy access and a charming quiet park to stroll in the evening. It's a quiet refined hotel perfectly suited for business or museum seeking tourists. I wouldn't recommend it for a family with children.

The hotel is conveniently close to the Prado and Buen Retiro park and has good metro links to the centre of Madrid and the airport, but is set in a quiet side street for a peaceful night's sleep. The kitchenette in the room was useful for making snacks or breakfast. Very attractive central courtyard garden.

We found the breakfast a little disappointing - there was a reasonable selection of cold food but there did not appear to be any hot options. Some coffee for the coffee maker in the room would have been nice!

Everything! Lovely room with kitchenette, balcony overlooking garden, convenient for all sights in Madrid. 20 minutes by train from airport. Small. Comfortable and large beds. Large room. In a very quiet spot - no external noise at night. Efficient, easy-to-control, air-conditoning and heating system. Windows that open. On-site restaurant and cafe. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Superb value for location.

Poor sound insulation between floors - could hear every step from above on the marble, and scraping chairs. Bell entry to rooms could be heard in other rooms. Bell to signal arrival of lift was irritating. Constant piped music even in upstairs corridors. It was classical music but was often quite loud (though it couldn't be heard in the bedrooms). Restaurant food was good and good value. Hot food in the cafe was poor and expensive for what it was. A kettle in the kitchen area would be useful.

In the heart of Madrid's fashion, shopping district & within walking distance of the museums & park. Very reasonably priced for the standard of accommodation & location. Good restaurants nearby.

The front desk staff, especially Eduardo, was incredibly helpful and patient with recommendations, directions, assistance, etc. Our room was extremely roomy, clean, and pleasant. We had breakfast one morning and it was excellent, if a bit pricey. The location was very safe and close to the metro and walking distance to the Prado and near Retiro Park. This hotel was excellent value for the price. I would stay here anytime that I was back in Madrid on vacation or business.

One night there was some partying noise on the street as we did not get the garden room we requested. It wasn't too bad, though, and the other 3 nights were fine.
